One of a Kind Jewelry, Made Once

Some stones refuse to be repeated. A fire opal kept the exact shape it grew. A Mahenge spinel beside royal purple garnet. Five black opals cut into petals around pink sapphire briolettes. Forty-six yellow and orange sapphires on one strand. Rhodochrosite carved into a peony, pink tourmaline carved into plum blossoms, coral into cherry blossoms. Butterflies of blue labradorite with articulated wings. Ear cuffs that need no piercing. The Chroma Forme Necklace, our AGTA Spectrum Award winner, and its earrings. Every piece on this page was designed around one stone or one matched suite, made once in 14K or 18K gold, and retires when it sells. The scarabs, the Chroma Pop trios, the Aurora earrings. When one goes, it is gone. The page you are reading will not look like this next year.

One of a Kind Jewelry: Frequently Asked Questions

What does one of a kind mean at Elyzian?

Made once, around one stone. The stone is found first, the design answers that stone's color and cut, and when the piece sells, that exact combination will not exist again. What we can do is hunt a sister stone and design fresh around it.

What kinds of one of a kind pieces do you make?

Rings, necklaces, earrings, ear cuffs, pendants, bracelets and bangles, and the occasional brooch. Rings, necklaces and earrings each have a one of a kind page of their own. This is where the whole family gathers.

Which stones appear in the one of a kind pieces?

Mahenge spinel, Zambian emerald, fire opal, black opal, Ethiopian opal, indicolite and tri-color tourmaline, tsavorite, spessartite, rubellite, rainbow sapphire, blue labradorite, rutilated quartz, South Sea pearl, and hand-carved coral, chrysoprase, azurite, rhodochrosite, malachite and lapis, most set with diamonds in 14K and 18K gold. The list changes as pieces sell and stones arrive.

Are the pieces hand-carved?

Some are, and the listing says so wherever it is true: coral, rhodochrosite, pink tourmaline, chrysoprase, azurite and malachite carved into petals, leaves, scarabs and cabochons. Carving is named only where it happened.

Can you make a one of a kind piece for me?

Yes, and a commission is the truest one of a kind there is. The vault keeps loose stones for exactly this, unheated rubies with documented origin, Brazilian emeralds, heart-shaped sapphires, spinels, chrome tourmalines, and the piece is designed around the one you fall for. Message us and we will show you the stones.

Which stones here need extra care?

Each piece by its gentlest stone. Sapphire, spinel and diamond take daily wear; emerald, tourmaline and the garnets want ordinary care; opal, labradorite, pearl, lapis, malachite and hand-carved coral ask for ceremony: on after perfume, off with a soft cloth, never an ultrasonic cleaner.
